Vascular Ultrasound and Technology: Admission Requirements

1. A minimum of 90 quarter (60 semester) hours earned at an accredited college or university are required.

2. The recommended minimum GPA is 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

3. Bachelor of Science Degree Minimum Core General Education Requirements: Effective January 1, 2009 all entering students must complete the following core general education requirements with a minimum grade of a "C" in order to be eligible for the Bachelor in Science degree awarded by Rush University:

Applicants who have taken their prerequisite coursework at a university outside the United States must have their coursework evaluated by the Education Credential Evaluators (ECE).

4. Three recommendations are required, preferably two from previous instructors and one from an employer.

5. An interview is scheduled for selected applicants following review of the application materials.

6. All applicants whose native language is not English must present evidence of proficiency in English by satisfactorily completing the Test of English as a Foreign Language examination (TOEFL). 7. Career Ladder Program: An applicant who has passed the physics and/or technical section of the ARDMS exam (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) in general, cardiac, or vascular ultrasound areas may request to be admitted to the Career Ladder Program in Vascular Ultrasound. An applicant who is accepted may be given credit by proficiency examination for Ultrasound Physics and Physical Principles I and II and Physics Lab as well as Vascular/Medical Terminology. A letter should be written to the Program Director for admission to the Career Ladder Program.
